Tacoma Community College’s Diversity Film Festival explores and celebrates individual and cultural differences through film. Now in its fourteenth year, the festival brings together art, ideas, and community through dramatic and documentary films that entertain and inspire. This year’s theme is Truth to Power.
Viewers are invited to experience the films together and take part in post-film dialogues centered around questions like:
How do we define and determine “truth”?
Why is truth important in a democratic society?
What does it mean to speak truth to power?
How does our susceptibility to lies and propaganda affect our understanding of truth?
How can truth-telling be used to disrupt inequity, marginalization, and the status quo?
What institutions in society are (or should be) dedicated to pursuing and telling the truth?
Screenings take place at The Grand Cinema, 606 Fawcett Avenue in Tacoma, and on the Tacoma Community College campus.
