The Friend - Dog Friendly Screening

Bring your friendly, movie-loving dog to The Grand Cinema April 6 for a special, one-time-only screening of The Friend, starring Naomi Watts & Bill Murray. Dogs and their humans can hit the red carpet and photo booth, & enjoy a free dog treat! Doors open at 9:30am, the film begins at 10am. Tickets are standard, non-matinee prices ($13, $11 for student/senior/military, $2.50 off for members) and include a seat for you & your pup! Thank you for being kind and courteous to other dogs, our staff, and volunteers, we appreciate your help keeping our theater safe and clean. Please be prepared to jump into action should any of our dog friends experience an incident or accident. About the film: Based on the bestselling novel, writer and teacher Iris (Watts) finds her comfortable, solitary New York life thrown into disarray after her closest friend and mentor (Murray) leaves her his beloved 150 lb. Great Dane. The regal yet intractable beast, named Apollo, immediately creates practical problems for Iris, from furniture destruction to eviction notices, as well as more existential ones. Yet as Iris finds herself unexpectedly bonding with Apollo, she begins to come to terms with her past, and her own creative inner life in this story of healing, love, and friendship. Dogs at the movies?! How will this work? - We’re asking everyone to bring only well-behaved, movie-loving dogs for this one time only dog-friendly event. - Every dog must be accompanied by one person. - Dogs can enjoy the movie sitting next to you on the floor or in your lap if they are small enough. - Dogs are not permitted to sit on the theater seats due to risk of accident or injury. - If your dog is showing any signs of stress or agitation, please give them a break from being in the theater.
