Film Debut in Tacoma
Two Documentaries about local sports legends Doris Brown Heritage and Don James, featuring live Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and cast!
Last Lap tells the story of Doris Brown Heritage’s extraordinary journey from a barefoot girl sprinting
on the beach to a world-renowned running legend who set the pace for generations of female athletes.
As a pioneer for women’s distance running, Doris competed in 2 Olympics, won 12 world cross
-country championships and in 1967 was the first American woman to run a 5-minute mile.
At age 81, Doris, a Peninsula HS grad, may be in her LAST LAP but her story of being one of the
fastest runners in the world is still inspiring new generations of runners.
"The Dawgfather: The Legacy of Don James " tells the story of a humble man from a small
town in Ohio, whose impact as a coach and mentor not only changed the landscape of college
football but also created lasting change through the men he coached and the people he
worked with during his 22-year career. This film is a captivating human interest story wrapped
in the world of football. It delves into the values James acquired as a child and how he applied
them to his coaching philosophy, passing on his wisdom to the coaches and players
who admired him. One of the most profound lessons he imparted was the belief that "Your
legacy is not what you do, but rather what you empower others to do."PT2H45M2025-03-29The Dawgfather & Last Lap (Double Feature)"The Dawgfather & Last Lap (Double Feature)"Showtimes
